In 2024 we are planning a discovery tour in northern Bohemia to discover and better understand the origins of glass and its production.
As glassworkers work during the week, and early in the day, we have planned to begin a bit earlier in the week than usual. Our suggested programme is to be as below, with exact details being determined closer to the date.
In general, we plan to visit glass blowers, cutters, painters, glass-fusing and other producers. No palaces but likely a museum or two to round things out. It will most certainly be a learning experience for everyone participating, even when they already know the area, and a not-to-be-missed opportunity for anyone that has not yet had the chance to visit this region.
Wednesday, 12th June – Arrival in Jablonec nad Nisou, at 17:00 or earlier.
Early arrivals will have the opportunity to visit the Muzeum Skla a Bizouterie (Museum for Glass and Jewellery).
For Participants travelling over Prague a shuttle transfer will be arranged. The Shuttle will pick up the group in the afternoon at a pre-determined place at the airport. Size of group to be determined, participants requiring a shuttle must contact the secretary as early as possible for coordination. Further travel from Jablonec nad Nisou will be made as a group, in a hired bus. Arrangements will be made regarding personal transport parking during our stay.
General Assembly to take place upon arrival in the evening in hotel or Museum.

Programme Entwurf Light & Glass Jahrestreffen, Nordböhmen 12. – 15. Juni 2024
Eine Entdeckungstour in Nord Böhmen um die Entstehung von Glas und seine Produktion besser zu verstehen.
Da die Glasmacher unter der Woche und früh am Tag arbeiten, haben wir geplant, etwas früher in der Woche als üblich zu beginnen. Unser vorgeschlagenes Programm sieht wie folgt aus, wobei die genauen Einzelheiten erst kurz vor dem Termin festgelegt werden.
Im Allgemeinen planen wir den Besuch von Glasbläsern, Glasschleifern, Glasmalern, Glasfusing und anderen Herstellern. Keine Paläste, aber wahrscheinlich ein oder zwei Museen, um das Programm abzurunden. Es wird mit Sicherheit eine lehrreiche Erfahrung für alle Teilnehmer, auch wenn sie schon einmal da waren, und eine nicht zu verpassende Gelegenheit für alle, die noch keine Gelegenheit hatten, diese Region zu erkunden.
Mittwoch, 12. Juni – Ankunft in Jablonec nad Nisou, um 17:00 Uhr oder früher.
Wer früher ankommt, hat die Gelegenheit das Muzeum Skla a Bizouterie (Museum für Glas und Schmuck) zu besuchen.
Für Teilnehmer, die über Prag anreisen, wird ein Shuttle-Transfer organisiert. Der Shuttle holt die Gruppe nach dem Mittag an einem vorher festgelegten Ort am Flughafen ab. Die Größe der Gruppe wird noch festgelegt, Teilnehmer, die einen Shuttle benötigen, müssen sich frühzeitig mit dem Sekretariat in Verbindung setzen. Die Weiterreise von Jablonec nad Nisou erfolgt als Gruppe in einem gemieteten Bus. Es werden Vorkehrungen für das Parken persönlicher Fahrzeuge während unseres Aufenthalts getroffen.
